The pharmacological screening of aqueous extract of C. infortunatum for maximal electroshock (MES) and pentylene tetrazole seizure (PTZ), Force Locomotor Activity (FLA), Conditioned Avoidance Response (CAR), analgesic activity in albino rats and local anaesthetic effect in guinea pigs were recorded. The aqueous extract markedly induced local anaesthetic effect in guinea pigs and significantly protected rats against tonic and clonic convulsion but could not show any marked activity in CAR, and FLA in rats. The extract produced good local anesthetic activity in guinea pigs and anticonvulsant activity in rats.
