Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) can affect dogs and cats and cases are seen in parts of the world including India where there is a high degree of exposure and where the disease is endemic and can disseminates TB organisms when it localises in the intestinal or respiratory tracts. As dogs and cats are pet animals and having close contact with human and other domestic animals, they may act as source of infection. Numbers of reviews are available on tuberculosis but only scanty information is available as per so far canine TB is concerned. This review summarizes its histopathology, diagnosis and treatment reported globally and in India.
