The study was carried out in 30 cases of cows (n=6) and buffaloes (n=24) suffering from fore stomach disorders. Ultrasonography of the reticulum was done in the standing animal restrained in a cattle crate using a 3.5 MHz microconvex transducer. The patterns of reticular motility were recorded in B+M mode in all the animals. All the cows and buffaloes were subjected to exploratory laparorumenotomy to confirm the ultrasonographic findings. The B+M mode ultrasonography helped in diagnosing and documenting normal reticular motility as well as various conditions with reticular involvement like reticular diaphragmatic hernia, reticulo-phrenic adhesions and reticular atony.
