DNA analysis for Mycobacterium tuberculosis was performed in the paraffin embedded tissues of domestic and wild animals. During postmortem examination, the lungs were grossly examined for lesions of tuberculosis and suspected samples of 32 domestic and 16 samples of wild animals were utilized for paraffin embedded sections with automated PCR thermo cycler (Master cycler, Appendorf, Germany) for amplification of the DNA. In the paraffin embedded tissues of each suspected tuberculosis sample, 445 base pair (bp) band was obtained in the amplified product of IS6110 suggestive of M. tuberculosis complex. In overall, 77% samples were found positive by PCR technique thus it showed the technique may be useful for diagnosis of tuberculosis in frozen samples.
