Sero-prevalence of bovine brucellosis under different managemental conditions in Andhra Pradesh

Abstract

A total of 1856 bovine sera samples were screened with AB-ELISA of which 248 were found to be positive with an overall sero-prevalence of 13.36 percent. 14.69% cattle, 11.29%, 13.92% females and 7.14% males were positive for brucella antibodies respectively, whereas 16.79% cross breeds and 11.91% indigenous cattle had brucella antibodies in sera. The prevalence in organized cattle farms was 11.44% and in rural sector was 14.83%, the prevalence in artificially inseminated animals was 14.11%, in naturally serviced animals was 9.82%; and in animals with reproductive disorders was 20.26%.
