Abstract

The study reports isolation and identification of 14 fungal taxa of fungi. Out of 24 rhizospheric soil samples obtained from some medicinal plant species, the rhizosphere fungi isolated were identified as Aspergillus spp. (17%), Alternaria spp. (10%), Carvuleria spp. (7%), Penicillium spp. (12%), Pestalotiopsis spp.(2%), Torula spp. (2%), Fusarium spp.(5%), Drechslera spp.(5%), Ulocladiumspp. (3%), Mucor spp. (3%), Rhizopus spp. (3%), Nigrosporaspp.(5%), Phytophthora spp. (3%), Podospora spp. (3%), Bipolaris spp. (5%). The rhizosphere fungi play a significant role in enhancing the medicinal properties of medicinal plants. The study recommended additional research on rhizosphere fungi associated with commercially important medicinal plants.
