Abstract

Malassezia dermatitis is a common skin condition in canines caused by the overgrowth of Malassezia yeast. This paper reports a case of Malassezia dermatitis in male Rottweiler cross dog with a history of mild to moderate itching, patchy alopecia, scaly lesions and mild inappetence since 10 days. Laboratory investigations, including fungal culture, confirmed Malassezia as the causative agent. Therapeutic management included combination of antifungal agents, antibiotics, and supportive care which was found to improve clinical signs within two weeks followed by full recovery noted after two months.
