Abstract

A clinical study investigated the effectiveness of a polyherbal spray (PHS) in treating soft tissue swelling associated with mastitis in dairy cows. The study included 28 cows, all receiving PHS for two weeks or until full recovery. Pain, swelling, milk consistency, udder temperature and shape, and a key ligament score were evaluated. These evaluations occurred before treatment (day 0) and throughout the treatment period (14 days). There was significant reduction in pain and swelling within just three days of PHS application. The milk consistency improved noticeably by day 2, followed by improvements in udder shape and ligament score within the first four days. The udder temperature decreased significantly within 30 minutes of initial application. The average recovery time for cows using PHS was 4.43 days, and the overall product performance received a high score. The study suggested that PHS combined with standard antibiotic treatment, can effectively alleviate pain and swelling in cows suffering from mastitis.
