Abstract

The study was conducted on 72 cats for comparative evaluation of the suitability and dosage of sodium iothalamate and iohexol with or without abdominal compression for intravenous urography. The comparative radiographic evaluation of kidneys and ureters was done under three dose levels viz. 600 mg/kg, 800 mg/kg and 1000 mg/kg. Iohexol at 800 mg/kg level gave excellent overall results compared to sodium iothalamate at the level of 1000 mg/kg.
