Abstract

A total of 24 cow calves were subjected to homogenous lamellar keratoplasty The swab samples from eyes were collected prior to surgery, andonird, 5th, 15th, 25th and 55th day postoperatively The samples showed the presence of various microorganisms including Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas and Bacallus spp. etc. The most effective drugs sensitive in vitro were ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin; whereas, gentamicin and chloramphenicol demonstrated better results in vivo The treatment with suitable drugs resulted in quicker healing and transparency of the transplanted cornea.
