Abstract

Efficacy of topical application of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) alone and in combination with autologous synovial fluid (ASF) infusion into the joint affected with acute aseptic arthritis was evaluated on the basis of clinical signs, radiological observations and physical, cytological and biochemical observations of the synovial fluid. Intraarticular transfusion of ASF alongwith topical application of DMSO had considerable beneficial effects in the treatment of acute aseptic arthritis than the use of topical DMSO alone.
