Forty three cattle and buffaloes with suspected oesophageal disorders were examined radiographically. The most common disorder was cervical oesophageal obstruction caused by non-radioopaque objects. The other conditions recorded included cervical oesophageal diverticulum, dilatation, perforation, extraoesophageal lesions and non-obstructing metallic objects. Survey and contrast radiography using barium sulfate suspension provided valuable diagnostic aid in differential diagnosis of dysphagia caused by various oesophageal disorders.
