Abstract

A comparative evaluation of three different techniques of laparoscopic sterilization viz: resection and removal of the ovary after clip application, electrocautery of the ovary and electrocautery and removal of the ovary after clip application was carried out in 18 healthy female dogs. Haematology, gross pathology and histopathology were conducted to compare these techniques. The ovaries and associated structures were better visualized by laparoscopy and all the techniques were carried out perfectly. There were no intra or postoperative complications. Minimal wound scars were noticed. Resection and removal of ovary after clip application technique was found superior than other two techniques andean be better adapted for female dog sterilization.
