Abstract

The study was conducted on 12 clinically healthy male calves divided randomly into two groups of 6 animals each. Group I served as control, in which after doingpost-scrotal urethrotomy and intubation, urethrotomy wound was left unsutured. In group II, urethral wound was also not sutured but wrapped in human amniotic membrane which was anchored to the penile tissue. Out of 6 animals of group 1,2 showed severe urine infiltration and 2 animals had moderate subcutaneous infiltration of urine. In group II, 2 animals showed no urine infiltration whereas 4 animals had moderate urine infiltration. Bacteriological examination of urine samples did not show any microbial growth. Rectal temperature, heart rate and respiratory rate and hematological values did not show any significant variation. Contrast radiography did not reveal any stricture formation in any of the two groups.
