Abstract

Pelvic plexus blockade with 0.5% solution of lignocaine hydrochloride alongwith parenteral enrofloxacin (floxidin) in experimental cystitis in buffalo calves showed an early recovery as compared to the treatment with lignocaine hydrochloride and enrofloxacin alone. The changes in physiological parameters (heart rate, respiratory rate and temperature), hematological parameters (total erythrocyte count, total leukocyte count, haemoglobin, packed cell volume and differential leukocyte count), various biochemical parameters (creatinine, BUN, total protein, albumin and glucose) and urine analysis (RBC and WBC, urinary GGT) were of lesser magnitude and their return to normal level was early in animals treated with pelvic plexus blockade alongwith the antibiotics in cystitis.
