Abstract

Clinical signs and haemato-biochemical changes in various body fluids were evaluated in sixteen buffalo calves following strangulated onstruction of jejunum. The clinical signs revealed colic, muscular weakness, delayed capillary refill time and reduced motility. The feed and water intake and dung output stopped completely in the terminal stages. BUN and creatinine increased in plasma, saliva, urine and ruminal fluid till the terminal stage. The levels of sodium and potassium decreased in all the fluids, however, the concentration of chloride decreased in plasma, saliva and urine but increased in ruminal fluid and dung of the affected animals.
