Abstract

The effects of reticulo-omasal and pyloric obstruction on certain biochemical constituents of saliva were investigated in buffalo calves. Changes in biochemical constituents of plasma were moderated by reciprocal changes in saliva. It also appears that starvation in buffalo calves due to obstruction caused a predominance of saliva phosphate buffer system as compared to predominant bicarbonate buffer system in healthy animals.
