Abstract

Indian J.Vet. Surg. 26(1): 25-27, June 2005 Electroacupuncture of acupoints [San Yin Zio (SP-6), Zu San Li (ST-36), auricular abdominal analgesia area (bilaterally), Bai Hui (GV-20)] produced excellent analgesia of abdomen and pelvic regions. Although analgesia has also been produced by electrostimulation of different other acupoint combinations used in the study, but the area of desensitization was less. There was smooth and quick recovery after electroacupuncture analgesia and no untoward side effect on the vital functions of the body system was recorded. Besides it increased the TLC, total proteins and globulin that could prevent the post-operative infections, as they increase the body resistance against diseases. These acupoint combinations therefore, can be safely used for surgical procedures in clinical situations.
