Abstract

Ammonium chloride, ammonium bicarbonate and a combination of homeopathic medicines (Cactus grandiflorus Q, Berberis vulgaris Q, Cantheris Q, Pareria Brava Q, Teribinth 30, Acid benzoicum 30 and Cactus 30) were evaluated for dissolution of urethral calculi in 24 goats (six animals in each group) after performing tube cystostomy. The treatments were evaluated on the basis of clinical observations, hematobiochemical changes, urine analysis and radiographic findings. The results suggested that ammonium chloride was the most effective agent. The combination of homeopathic medicine was, however, not effective in goats suffering from urolithiasis having alkaline pH.
