Urethrostomy performed in dogs over the period of 5 years is reported. The indications included neoplasms, urethral rupture and recurrent obstruction. Scrotal urethrostomy was commonly performed followed by prescrotal and perineal urethrostomy. Amputation of the penis was carried out for neoplastic conditions. The incidence, indications, technique of urethrostomy were discussed.
