Two dogs with traumatic craniodorsal dislocation of hip joint were stabilized with open reduction of femoral head and relaxation was prevented by a technique called synthetic capsular suturing. After proper positioning of femoral head, two cortical screws were fixed on the craniolateral border of the acetabulum and one screw in the greater trochanter of the femur. The joint was stabilized using No. 1 silk involving all the three screws in a figure of eight fashion. This resulted in good stabilization of hip joint and complete normal range of hind limb movement. Both dogs recovered uneventfully with normal limb movement.
