A captive male sloth bear aged about 5 years owned by “Amsena” a non-government organization sustained bullet injuries from security personnel when it attacked a visitor. The animal was presented for thorough examination and treatment of injuries sustained. It was anaesthetized with atropine sulphate, xylazine and ketamine hydrochloride. Clinical, haematological and radiographic examination did not reveal any serious injuries. Routine dressing along with antibiotic treatment as per sensitivity test made the animal to recover uneventfully. Systematic handling, anaesthesia and treatment of different bullet injuries are presented.
