A 10-year-old male deer belonging to a religious mutt of Tiptur was presented to the college hospital with a history that the antlers were not shed since a year. Also the growth on both horns was increasing gradually. Physical examination revealed neoplastic condition of the velvet involving both the antlers and the growth extended to the dorsal aspect of right eye. The deer was anesthetized using xylazine and ketamine @ 1 mg and 10 mg/Kg b.wt., respectively, IM. A tear drop like skin incision was made around the base of the antler and excised by flap method. Postoperatively, 1.25 g of streptopenicillin was given IM daily for five days along with the wound dressing, and the sutures were removed on 8th post-operative day. The animal recovered uneventfully and no recurrence was noticed during the last three months of observation.
