Abstract

A 6-year-old, 350 kg cattle was presented with the history of accidental fall. The animal was restrained physically. Visual examination revealed deviation of the left horn from the normal. Movement of the horn was possible with slight force applied with two fingers. The fracture end was felt at the base of horn. The skin was intact. The horn was brought to the normal position and was kept in place with the help of bamboo sticks as external splints. The right normal horn was used to stabilize the left fractured horn in criss cross pattern using splints. The animal was kept with two ropes tied on either side to prevent mutilation of the external splints. The splints were kept in place for 21 days. Ostovet* 50 mL twice a day was administered orally.
