Abstract

A 10-year-old male Dalmatian dog was presented with the history of anorexia, dullness, loss of weight and scanty defecation for the last 30 days. The animal was already treated with purgatives for 7 day, which didn't reveal any improvement. The case was diagnosed as intestinal obstruction and surgery was performed under xylazine @ 1 mg/kg IM and ketamine @ 5 mg/kg IV anaesthesia. Rectoliths were successfully removed by standard surgical procedure. Post-operatively inj. Amoxyxillincloxacillin 250 mg for 7 days, Diclofenac (30 mg), Dexamethasone (10 mg) and DNS (200 mL) for 3 days were given. The skin suture was removed on 10th postoperative day. There was uneventful recovery.
