A seven-months-old Labrador pup was presented with a history of recurrent vomition and diarrhoea since 3 days. Systemic therapy with antibiotics, anti-emetics and fluids for 3 days did not show any improvement. Radiograph revealed a radio-opaque irregular shaped structure at the level of eighth to ninth rib. The case was diagnosed as gastric foreign body. Gastrotomy was performed and a large irregular shaped artificial toy bone was removed. Gastrotomy and laparotomy wounds were closed in routine manner. Antibiotics and intravenous fluids were given for 5 days. From sixth day after surgery liquid diet was fed to the dog and after 12 days regular diet was fed. Sutures were removed on 10th postoperative day.
