Abstract

A non-descript male dog aged 4 years was presented with abdominal distension since 3 months. The swelling was gradually increased in size. Ultrasonography revealed fluid filled structure with hyperechoic wall at few places. Ultrasound guided centesis revealed dirty, odourless fluid, which was predominated by neutrophils. Exploratory laparotomy was performed and revealed a huge peritoneal abscess having a volume of 6 liter. The cavity was drained and the sac attached to the mesentery was removed. The dog made an uneventful recovery.
