Abstract

A Labrador dog aged 4 years was presented for intermittent clear bleeding from left nostril since last three days. The animal was treated with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, nasal drops, anti-fungal and coagulants (Vitamin K, Chromostat and Ethamsylate) with slight response for two days only. Four cases of brisket oedema in adult crossbred cattle and buffaloes were presented to Veterinary Unit for treatment. Animals were already treated with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs and diuretics without any response. An infant nasal feeding catheter No. 6 was fixed in the pericardium through 12 G long spinal needle inserted through 4th intercostal space from left side into the pericardium under local analgesia. The catheter was anchored with stay sutures for regular drainage. Approximately 500 mL-1 liter clear pericardial fluid was drained out at one instance. The fluid was found with elevated proteins, low glucose but sterile on culture sensitivity tests. A Labrador female dog with a history of progressive hind quarter weakness was presented for treatment. Clinical and haematological parameters were found within the normal range. Diminished pain reflexes and patellar reflexes were observed in hind quarter, whereas fore legs having normal reflexes. The animal was treated with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, steroid, anabolic steroid and nervine tonics without any response.
