Abstract

A day old cow calf was referred due to a huge swelling hanging on the neck with attachment at poll region. The calf was unable to stand. Deep palpation revealed a small ring at poll region, through which the protrusion of membrane was felt. Surgical intervention was performed under 2% Lignocaine HCl local analgesia, and herniated portion was resected and skin was sutured. The calf showed uneventful recovery and the next day calf was able to stand on its own.
