Abstract

The study was conducted in 12 clinical cases of tibial diaphyseal fracture in dogs. The animals were randomly divided into two groups of six each (Groups A and B). In dogs of group A, the tibial diaphyseal fracture was repaired using Type Ia external skeletal fixator. In dogs of group B, tibial diaphyseal fracture was repaired using Type Ib external skeletal fixator. Based on fixator stability, pain evaluation, weight bearing, patient tolerance and radiographic assessment of fracture healing, it was found that Type Ia external skeletal fixator promoted early and better healing of fracture than Type Ib external skeletal fixator.
