Abstract

The study was conducted on 10 clinical cases of dogs presented with splenic affections. The technique of ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration biopsy was found accurate in diagnosing extramedullary hematopoiesis, suppurative splenitis and lymphoma of the spleen. Ultrasonography helped in characterization of splenic parenchyma for change in size and echotexture. Ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration biopsy was found to be an easy, safe, accurate and reliable technique for diagnosing splenic affections in dogs.
