Abstract

Eighteen femur fractures in dog were treated using Steinmann pin, Kuntscher nail or intramedullary interlocking nail in six animals each. Intramedullary interlocking nail stabilized femur fracture healed with less callus formation in less time as compared to Steinmann pin and Kuntscher nail stabilized fractures. Fixation with intramedullary interlocking nails resulted in lesser complications as compared to Steinmann pin and Kuntscher nail.
