Thirty eight clinically healthy horses were divided into four groups i.e. group IA- open-open method of castration (n=7), group IB- open-close method of castration (n=6), group IIAopen-open method of castration followed by scrotal ablation (n=18) and group IIB- open-close method of castration followed by scrotal ablation (n=7). Open-close method of castration and open-close method of castration followed by scrotal ablation with intact tunica vaginalis showed minimum postoperative complications. Early healing was observed in group IIB followed by groups IIA, IB and IA.
