Abstract

Intussusception was diagnosed in 20 crossbred cattle. The incidence was more in cattle <2 yr age. Maximum number of cases were recorded in peak summer. Colicky signs preceded other symptoms of obstruction. Sausage like mass could be palpated per rectally just below and to the right of pelvic brim in 13 cases, out of which 5 animals were at advanced pregnancy. Intussusception was noticed more in jejunum and ileum. Intestinal resection and end to end anastomosis was done through right flank laparotomy. Postoperatively, cattle were treated with broad spectrum antibiotic, analgesic, fluid therapy and rumenotoric. Cattle passed dung on the same day in 12 cases, next day in 5 cases and on third day in 3 cases.
