Most of the forestomach disorders result from penetration of reticulum by foreign bodies. The affections of the reticulum such as traumatic reticuloperitonitis, diaphragmatic hernia, reticular abscess, sternal abscess and reticular fistula were imaged by both ultrasonography and radiography and results of both techniques were compared. The scanning of the reticulum in cases of diaphragmatic hernia in adult buffaloes were done at 5th intercostal space while ultrasonographic image of traumatic reticuloperitonitis, reticular abscess was taken at the level of 6th or 7th intercostal space of the right side. The clinical cases of reticular abscess and sternal abscess can be diagnosed by both techniques i.e. radiography and ultrasonography. The ultrasonography is better technique for cases of diaphragmatic hernia as compared to plain radiography in buffaloes while radiography appears to be a better diagnostic technique for cases of traumatic reticulitis as compared to ultrasonography in buffaloes.
