Cattle suffering from interdigital hyperplasia were subjected to conventional surgical excision (n=12, group I), cryotherapy followed by conventional surgical excision (n=12, group II), or thermocautery followed by conventional surgical excision group III (n=12). In conventional surgical excision, after ‘en block’ excision of the mass, profuse bleeding occurred, which was difficult to control. While in cryotherapy and thermocautery followed by surgical excision bleeding was controlled by cryocauterization and thermocauterization. In group III animals healing time was lesser than the cryotherapy followed by surgical excision and conventional excision also. The rate of recurrence was higher (5.55%) in group I animals whereas, in group II and group III there was no recurrence of interdigital hyperplasia.
