Abstract

Traumatic pericarditis was diagnosed using radiography and ultrasonography. Nine animals affected with constrictive form of pericarditis were subjected to 5th rib resection thoracotomy under general anaesthesia. Excision of 7X3 cm strip of pericardium was performed, which facilitated drainage and relieved pressure caused by pericardial constriction, and chest drainage catheter was fixed before closure of thoracotomy incision.
