Abstract

Fifty dogs, 39 males and 11 females of different breeds were brought to CGS Hospital, Gurgaon with complaint of pain and lameness in most of the dogs. The dogs were 25 days to 12.5 yr old. These dogs were physically examined and subjected to radiography as per need. Congenital orthopaedic conditions like congenital hydrocephalus, hemi-vertebra, congenital shoulder luxation, congenital elbow luxation and congenital patellar luxation were diagnosed in ten dogs. Developmental orthopaedic diseases like elbow dysplasia, growth plate abnormality, panosteitis, juvenile osteodystrophy and hip dysplasia were diagnosed in forty dogs. Congenital and developmental orthopaedic diseases are common cause of pain and lameness in dogs.
