The present report describes the diagnosis and successful surgical management of complex and varying degrees of thoracic trauma in five dogs. In four dogs, the cause of injury was an automobile accident, and rib fractures were seen. All the dogs were presented with tachypnoea, tachycardia and varying degrees of cyanosis. The thoracic wall damage was repaired with reconstruction of muscle tears and the fractured ribs were stabilised with absorbable suture material. Though one animal showed complications during the postoperative period, all the animals survived and recovered completely.
