Abstract

Arthritis was induced in the left stifle joint by injecting 0.1 mL of turpentine oil under aseptic conditions in 6 New Zealand White adult rabbits divided in two groups, which were subjected to interferential or magnetic therapy. The therapies were given on alternate days for 15 days, starting from the day 1. The effects of each therapy on joint swelling, joint warmth, pain on palpation, flexion response and lameness were observed on 1st, 3rd, 9th, 12th and 19th days. Results suggested that interferential therapy was more effective than magnetic therapy in reducing the clinical symptoms of arthritis.
