Abstract

The objective of the study was to compare plaster of Paris (POP) and fiberglass (FBG) bandage casts for clinical application. Sixteen cases of closed fractures were randomly divided into Group I (POP cast) and Group II (FBG casts) with eight animals in each group. The results of the study indicate that application of FBG cast was comparatively easier, less time consuming and less cumbersome as compared to POP cast. The FBG has faster setting time, lighter in weight and radiolucent than POP. However, FGB is costlier than POP bandage. There was no major difference in the fracture healing time between the two groups.
