This study includes a retrospective analysis (January 2008-July 2013) of clinical records from a heterogenous group of dogs and cats which were treated by SOP-plate (Orthomed®, UK). In 15 dogs and five cats, a surgical fixation using SOPplate was performed. Radiographic follow up of the operated cases were performed in the postoperative period up to 50 months. In one out of 15 dogs postoperative complication (muscle atrophy) was observed. Long term evaluation by telephone interview with the owners (20 owners, 1–50 months after surgery) revealed excellent results in 16 of 20 cases of SOP-plate fixation of ilial fractures (12 dogs and 4 cats) and good results in 4 cases (3 dogs and one cat). It is concluded that SOP plating in dogs and cats can be performed for successful treatment of os-ilium fractures.
