Three horses suffering from the hind limb lameness (score 4–5) were included in the present study. Physical examination revealed pelvic asymmetry and gluteal muscle atrophy. The serum lactate (2.70±0.65 mmol/L) and plasma fibrinogen (766±120 mg/dL) were elevated. Lateral radiographs were not diagnostic in any animal and ventrodorsal radiographs were not taken. Ultrasonography revealed a break in the smooth contour of the wing of ilium when scanned from tuber sacrale to the tuber coxae with ventral displacement of the fracture fragment with a typical ‘step’ lesion identified close to the tuber coxae in one animal. In two animals ultrasonography revealed undisplaced fracture of the tuber coxae.
