Abstract

Two haemostatic techniques, the electrocautery and extracorporeal knotting, were evaluated for ovarian pedicle stasis in dogs. Greater surgical time with complications like spillage of blood and accidental puncture of abdominal peritoneum were recorded in extracorporeal knotting technique, however, no major complications were noted in any animal of electrocautery group. Stasis of ovarian pedicle by electrocoagulation was found convenient and easier as compared to the suturing.
