Abstract

A clinical study was conducted on 18 affected goats over a period of one year with fractures of different bones viz., radius (n=2), metacarpus (n=6), tibia (n=8), metatarsus (n=1) and phalanges (n=1). Robert Jones bandage along with orthotic device (thermo-moldable polymer) was used as an external support after proper alignment of fracture fragments under Image Intensifying Television (IITV) guidance. The goats were evaluated based on lameness score and goniometric examination of the limbs. Orthotic device was found effective for the management of fractures of metacarpus, phalanges, metatarsus, tibia and radius.
