The present study was conducted on 42 clinical cases of dogs of either sex with the history of persistent vomiting or regurgitation and underwent routine clinical, haematobiochemical, radiographic and ultrasonographic assessment to rule out the concurrent diseases. Out of the 42, 31 dogs (73.81%) had diseases of the oesophagus, while the rest (11 dogs; 26.19%) had diseases of the stomach. Oesophagoscopy revealed a variety of disorders including megaoesophagus, oesophageal stricture, reflux oesophagitis, whereas gastroscopy showed gastritis, gastric ulcers and gastric foreign bodies. Clinically all the dogs showed varied degrees of refractory symptoms like emaciation, shrunken abdomen, regurgitation and/or vomiting. Out of 42 cases, oesophageal and gastric foreign bodies were retrieved in 9 dogs successfully by avoiding invasive surgery. Randomly 19 dogs underwent biopsy and cytological examination for detailed investigation and treated medically.
