Abstract

Six clinically healthy dogs of either sex were administered with atropine sulphate (0.04 mg/kg) and dexmededetomidne (10 μg/kg). Yohimbine (0.11 mg/kg b.wt. i.v.) was given for reversal 90 min after injection of dexmedetromidine. Various clinical and physiological parameters were recorded in all the animals till complete recovery. It was concluded that yohimbine is a good α2 adrenoreceptor antagonist for reversal of the effect of dexmedetomidine in dogs.
