The study was aimed to compare ultrasonography and radiography for the diagnosis of reticular abscess in buffaloes (n=17). The findings were confirmed during laparo-rumenotomy. Anechoic to hypoechoic contents, suggestive of reticular abscess were seen in 15 buffaloes (88.2%). However, on radiography, only 4 buffaloes (23.52%) showed radiolucent densities near the diaphragm line suggestive of reticular abscess. Fifteen animals were found positive for reticular abscess on laparorumenotomy. The study suggest that ultrasonography is superior in diagnosing and characterizing reticular abscess as compared to radiography.
