Abstract

Obesity is an emerging problem in pet animals. Laparoscopic gastric greater curvature serosa to serosa plication was done in eight obese dogs under butorphanol sedation with propofolisoflurane anaesthesia. The food intake decreased significantly with significant decrease in the body fat percentage and body condition score and improvement was noted in the activity of the dogs at three months after the surgery. Laparoscopic gastric greater curvature serosa-to-serosa plication was found to be a safe and effective technique in managing the weight of obese dogs.
