Abstract

The study was conducted on 18 clinical cases of superficial tumours in dogs (fibroma, adenoma, fibrosarcoma, chondrofibrosarcoma, adenocarcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and granular type trichoblastoma), divided randomly in three equal groups to evaluate different surgical excision protocols. In group I, tumours were excised using conventional scalpel blade, while in groups II and III the animals were operated under Diode LASER with Continuous Wave and Pulsed Wave modes of transmission, respectively. Based on various parameters such as duration of surgery, intraoperative haemorrhage and ease of process, LASER excision was found to be superior to conventional method using scalpel.
